1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Showups (showups.app), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the platform. These terms apply to all users, including event hosts and event guests.
2. What Showups Is
Showups is a digital event organizing platform. We provide software tools that allow hosts to create events, manage guest lists, collect payments for tickets, and facilitate a live event timeline. We are not an event organizer, venue operator, promoter, insurer, or ticket reseller. We do not plan, host, manage, or control any events listed on the platform. We are solely a technology provider.
3. Host Responsibilities
As an event host, you are solely responsible for:
- The planning, organization, and execution of your event
- Compliance with all applicable local, state, provincial, and federal laws and regulations
- Obtaining any required permits, licenses, or insurance for your event
- The safety and well-being of attendees at your event
- The accuracy of all event information (title, date, location, pricing)
- Any disputes with attendees regarding the event itself
- Ensuring your event complies with venue rules and regulations
- Tax obligations related to ticket sales and revenue
4. Guest Responsibilities
As an event guest, you acknowledge that:
- You attend events at your own risk
- Showups has no control over the quality, safety, or legality of any event
- You are responsible for evaluating the suitability of any event before registering or purchasing a ticket
- Content you post to event timelines (text, photos) is visible to all event attendees and the host
- You will not post illegal, harmful, abusive, or offensive content to event timelines
5. Payments & Pricing
- All prices on the platform are displayed and charged in United States Dollars (USD)
- Payments are processed securely through Stripe
- A processing fee (2.9% + $0.30) and a platform fee (3% + $0.55) are deducted from each ticket sale
- Hosts receive the net amount after fees
- Showups does not handle currency conversion; Stripe may apply conversion at the point of payment for international buyers
6. Email Communications
By providing your email address, you consent to receive transactional emails from Showups related to your event activity, including verification codes, registration confirmations, check-in codes, ticket links, and payout notifications. Email frequency varies based on your activity.

7. Refund Policy
All ticket sales on Showups are final and non-refundable. By purchasing a ticket, you acknowledge and agree that no refunds will be issued for any reason, including but not limited to: event cancellation, schedule changes, inability to attend, dissatisfaction with the event, or any other circumstance. Hosts are responsible for communicating their own cancellation policies to guests. Showups is not responsible for issuing refunds on behalf of hosts.
8. Payouts to Hosts
- Payouts for paid events are available 7 days after the event ends
- Hosts must request a payout and provide valid payout details
- Available payout methods: Interac e-Transfer, Direct Deposit / EFT, PayPal, and SWIFT Wire
- Payout amounts are calculated as gross ticket revenue minus processing fees (2.9% + $0.30 per ticket) and platform fees (3% + $0.55 per ticket)
- For international transfers (PayPal, SWIFT Wire), additional deductions may apply due to currency conversion rates, intermediary bank fees, and receiving bank charges. These fees are determined by the respective banks and payment providers and are outside of Showups' control. The final amount received by the host is subject to the bank's applicable rates and fees at the time of transfer
- Payout details are write-once and cannot be edited after submission; contact support for changes
- Payment and transaction records are retained for auditing, accounting, and legal compliance purposes
- Showups reserves the right to withhold payouts in cases of suspected fraud or policy violations
9. Timeline Content
- Event timelines allow attendees and hosts to post text and photos during live events
- All timeline content (posts, photos, check-in records) is automatically and permanently deleted 48 hours after the event ends
- We do not archive, back up, or retain timeline content beyond this 48-hour period
- Guest names and email addresses are retained beyond this period so hosts can export guest lists for event organizing purposes
- Hosts may pin or post announcements; these are also subject to automatic deletion
- We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these terms without notice
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Showups, its owners, operators, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to:
- Any event listed on or organized through the platform
- Personal injury, property damage, or any harm occurring at, during, or in connection with any event
- The conduct, actions, or omissions of any host, guest, or third party
- Event cancellations, changes, or no-shows
- Loss of data, including timeline content after automatic deletion
- Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
- Any transactions between hosts and guests
- Interruption or unavailability of the platform
- Any errors in payment processing, payout calculations, or fee deductions
- Any deductions, fees, or charges applied by banks, payment providers, or intermediary institutions during international transfers, including but not limited to currency conversion rates, SWIFT intermediary fees, receiving bank charges, and PayPal conversion fees — all of which are determined by the respective financial institution at the time of transfer and are outside of Showups' control
- Differences between the payout amount calculated by Showups and the final amount received by the host due to the above external deductions
Showups is a digital platform provider only. We do not organize, endorse, guarantee, or assume any responsibility for any event or its outcomes. Your use of the platform and attendance at any event is entirely at your own risk.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Showups, its owners, operators, employees, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or related to your use of the platform, your event (if you are a host), your attendance at any event (if you are a guest), or your violation of these terms.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
The platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
13. Prohibited Uses
You may not use Showups to:
- Organize illegal activities or events that violate any applicable law
- Commit fraud, scam attendees, or misrepresent events
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users
- Upload malicious content, viruses, or harmful code
- Attempt to access other users' data or accounts
- Use automated systems to scrape or extract data from the platform
- Resell tickets purchased through the platform
14. Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any host account, remove any event, or block any user at our sole discretion, without notice, for any reason including violation of these terms or suspected fraudulent activity.
15. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Alberta, Canada.
16. Changes to These Terms
These Terms of Service are subject to change at any time without prior notice. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the platform after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. It is your responsibility to review this page periodically.
