1. Who We Are

Showups ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website showups.app and provides a digital event organizing platform that allows hosts to create events and guests to register and check in. We are not an event organizer, venue operator, or ticket reseller. We provide software tools only.

2. Information We Collect

From Hosts:

  • Email address (used for authentication via OTP)
  • Name
  • Country
  • Payout details (bank information, PayPal email, etc.) when requesting payouts for paid events

From Guests:

  • Name
  • Email address (used for OTP verification and transactional emails only)
  • Avatar (randomly assigned, not user-selected)

From Timeline Activity:

  • Text messages posted to event timelines
  • Photos uploaded to event timelines
  • Check-in timestamps

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To verify your identity via email one-time passwords (OTP)
  • To send transactional emails (registration confirmations, check-in codes, ticket links)
  • To display your name and avatar on event timelines
  • To process ticket payments through Stripe
  • To send administrative alerts to event hosts
  • To process payouts to hosts for paid events

4. Email Usage

Your email address is used for:

  • One-time password (OTP) verification during sign-in and registration
  • Transactional emails: registration confirmations, check-in codes, ticket links, and payout notifications
  • Occasional platform updates and communications related to your events

We do not sell or rent your email address to third parties. Emails are sent through Resend for the operation of the platform.

5. Timeline Content & Automatic Deletion

All timeline content (text posts, photos, check-in records) is automatically and permanently deleted 48 hours after the event ends. This includes all uploaded photos and associated storage files. Once deleted, this content cannot be recovered. We do not archive, back up, or retain timeline content beyond this 48-hour grace period.

Guest names and email addresses are retained beyond the 48-hour window so that hosts can export their guest lists for the purposes of event organizing. This data is not used for marketing.

6. Guest Accounts

Guests do not have accounts on Showups. Guest identity is established per-event using a name, email address, and a unique URL token. We do not use cookies or local storage for guest sessions. Guests cannot log in, and their data is scoped entirely to the event they registered for.

7. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, file storage
  • Resend — email delivery and verification
  • Stripe — payment processing for paid event tickets
  • Vercel — website hosting

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party for marketing purposes.

8. Payment Information

All payments are processed through Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers, bank card details, or any sensitive payment information on our servers. Stripe handles all payment data in accordance with PCI-DSS standards. All prices on the platform are displayed and charged in United States Dollars (USD).

Transaction records (amounts, fees, payout details) are retained on our end for auditing, accounting, and legal compliance purposes.

9. Data Retention

  • Host accounts and event data are retained as long as the account is active
  • Guest registration data (name, email, check-in status) is retained so hosts can export guest lists for event organizing purposes
  • Timeline content (photos, messages, check-in records) is automatically deleted 48 hours after the event ends
  • Payment and transaction records are retained for auditing, accounting, and legal compliance purposes
  • Payout details are retained for accounting and legal compliance purposes

10. Your Rights

You may request deletion of your personal data by contacting us. Hosts can delete their events from the dashboard. Guests can request removal of their registration data by contacting the event host or reaching out to us directly.

11. Children's Privacy

Showups is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy is subject to change at any time without prior notice. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the platform after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. It is your responsibility to review this page periodically.
